Tool #1. Google Search Console

Google Search Console will show you all the keywords that you’re ranking for that are driving the majority of your traffic.

By creating your own headline or title tag that’s more appealing, as well as including the keyword, you’re more likely to get clicks.

Tool #2. Ubersuggest

Google Search Console has already showed you what keywords you’re getting traffic for. If you plug these keywords into Ubersuggest, it will show you all the long tail variations of those keywords. If you already rank for the headterms, it’s really easy to rank for the long tail terms.

Tool #3. Yoast SEO Plugin

This plugin will make your life so much easier if you run your website on WordPress.

Yoast SEO Plugin will help you optimize your code, title tags, meta description and create a XML sitemap.

Tool #4. Websiteresponsivetest.com

Your site needs to be mobile compatible and putting your website into this tool will tell you, if your website is responsive and mobile friendly.

Tool #5. Google Trends

By creating a brand, you’re going to do better on Google.

And Google Trends shows you how your brand is doing compared to other people. You want the bigger brand and Google Trends will show this.

Tool #6. Google PageSpeed insights

More people use Google on their mobile devices than on their desktop computers. That’s why speed is so important. Google has an index just for mobile sites. So, you want to ensure that your website loads as fast as possible.

Tool #7. Keywords Everywhere

Keywords Everywhere plugin will show you how many people are searching for your terms and related keywords as you’re using Google. It’ll give you more keyword ideas, because you can see the search volume and how good some of these keywords are.

The first thing you need to do is make sure you truly love SEO, you wanna do it, and you wanna get good at it.

The second thing you need to do is set up a website. Go to wordpress.org or wordpress.com, set up your own website. It could be a blog, could be a blogging platform, it doesn’t matter. That’s just the first thing you need to do. Without your own website, you won’t know how to implement these tactics, practice, or get good at it.

The third thing you need to do is write content. When you have your website, if you don’t have content, you’re not gonna rank. As the saying goes, content is king. Publish content on whatever you’re passionate about.

The fourth thing is you need to build links. When it comes to building links, if no one’s linking to your website, you won’t rank.

Then, when you take those articles, you can put ’em into Ahrefs. It’ll show you all the people linking to ’em.

On top of links, you now need to then start getting social shares.

Then, I want you to follow all the popular marketing blogs, from Backlinko to Moz, to hey, even me, neilpatel.com. All of these marketing blogs will break out the latest and greatest tactics and techniques. By reading ’em on a regular basis, you’ll learn ’em, you’ll stay on top of the curve, so that way, you’ll do better than most people in the SEO industry.

And last but not least, be patient. You’re not gonna climb to the top of Google in a month, or even three months or six months. It takes longer and longer each and every single year because the web is more competitive. There’s roughly 1.7 or 1.8 billion websites on the Internet. That’s roughly four websites, technically one website for every four people. That’s a lot of websites, and blogs, there’s over a billion. That’s roughly one blog for every seven people. That’s too many sites to choose from. Because that Google now says, hey, there’s a lot of people talking about the same content over and over again, let’s pick the ones that are more up-to-date or more authority. It makes it that much harder for you to get rankings. For that reason, you need to learn to be patient. If you do this consistently for six months to a year, you’ll get results.

A Simple Hack to Finding the Right Keywords to Rank #1 on Google For (The best Free Tool) // If there’s one SEO lesson you need to learn about ranking #1 on Google, it’s this: the more traffic you get to your website, doesn’t mean the more sales you’re going to generate. If you’re going after the wrong keywords, you’re getting the wrong traffic right now. Even if they’re in your industry and you think you’re targeting the right ones, I bet, they’re the wrong ones. Today I’m going to share with you a simple hack to finding the right keywords to rank number one on Google for.

I got my sites up to hundreds and thousands of visitors. My current site NeilPatel.com gets over three million visits a month.

Just think about that. 3+ million visits a month.

And if you’re not getting the right kind of traffic, doesn’t matter if you take it from three and go to six, or ten, doesn’t mean you’re going to get more sales.

And I learned that the hard way, but eventually, I learned how to fix it.

So, let’s go over the simple hack to getting you the right keywords to rank on Google for.

Step one, go to Ubersuggest.

When you go to Ubersuggest, you’ll notice, that yeah, you can type in keywords and do keyword research. But, you can also put in a URL and get data on all the traffic that anyone in the space is getting.

What keywords your competition is ranking for, how much cost per click are they paying for these keywords.

So, put in a competitor URL. The ones that you know are making money. If you don’t know, do searches in your space for other competitors and you’ll see which ones are spending money on ads and are bigger than you, have a lot of employees, they tend to do well.

Step two, on that page you’re going to see an overview, a traffic overview of your competitions traffic.

How many visitors you’re getting from that region, whether it’s United States, or Australia, or India. And you’re going to see their top pages, click on top pages.

Step three, under top pages, you’re going to see all the top performing pages that are driving most of their traffic.

Look at all their most popular pages, and click view all, under the estimated visits column. That’ll show you the keywords that are driving the traffic.

Look for the keywords that are driving traffic, have a high cost per click, ideally, in the dollar plus range.

Anything that’s over a dollar, has volume, is their most popular pages – because Ubersuggest sorting it by popularity.

And then you want to look at SEO difficulty. The lower the number, ideally under 50, the better off you are.

Next, what I want you to do, is take that keyword because you’ve found one, and Google for it.

Look up all the pages that rank in the top 10. Click on their site, look at that content that’s ranking.

Read it, understand it.

Now, next step. I want you to write a more thorough version.

More detail, more thorough, poke holes in their content, analyze it, answer everything that they’re not.

It’s not just all about length, it’s about being thorough.

Then, last but not least, just because you create the content, doesn’t mean that you’re going to get the rankings and the traffic.

So, you need to follow the steps so that way you can go in a full circle, and you can get the rankings. Anytime you link out to someone, hit them up. Ask them to share your content.

You can be like, “Hey John, I love your content, so much so I linked out to your site. You can check it out here. If you like my content, feel free and share it on your favorite social network. Cheers, Neil.”

By doing that, you’re going to get more traction, and as you get all this traction, you will start getting better rankings.

And as you get more rankings, you will start generating sales because you’re getting the right kind of traffic.

Backlinks

You can put in a competitor URL or anyone’s URL.

You can see everyone who links to them and you can hit up each of those sites and ask them to link to your article.

If you follow those tactics, you’re going to rank for the right keywords, generate the right kind of traffic, and generate more sales.

The first tip I have for you is, blogging drives a ton of traffic. You guys know that, Google loves content, as they say, content is king. But here’s the thing, there’s over a billion blogs right now. So, if you go out there and you just write tons of blog posts because your competitors rank for all these terms, it won’t work. Regurgitating the same information over and over again won’t produce results in 2019. What you need to do is create a new unique spin. You have to write about fresh stuff that people haven’t seen. So instead of focusing on writing a blog post every day, maybe write a post once a week, or if you can’t even do that, once a month, but if you write something that’s super new and unique, I kid you not, you’re gonna get a ton of social shares, you’re gonna get a ton of backlinks, you’re gonna get a ton of comments and engagement and traffic.

The second tip I have for you is to build a brand. There’s a lot of sites out there creating fake news, and Google hates that. They’re looking for brand signals, and if you’re wondering how big your brand is, go to Google Trends, type in your brand name, versus your competitor, and you’ll see how you’re doing. The reason they wanna rate brands is, it builds trust. They know that if people are looking for your brand, they trust you, and you’re less likely to create crap content or write fake news.

The third tip I have for you is, link building is harder than ever. Everyone’s hitting up these sites for links. Yes, there’s over a billion blogs, but because there’s so many sites out there, everyone’s getting hit up more and more for links.

The fourth tip is make sure your website loads fast. Google has a mobile-only search engine as well as one just for your desktop and laptop devices. Speed is more important than ever. Yes, I know people have 4G and 5G phones, just because they have fast ones doesn’t mean they’re in an area with really strong reception, so that could mean your website loads really, really slow. Use Google Page Speed, it’ll show you what you need to fix to load faster in Google’s eyes.

The next tip I have for you is voice search. Voice search is becoming more and more popular. By 2020 over 50% of the people will be using voice search. So you wanna make sure with your website and your content, ’cause that’s typically what’s gonna rank for voice search, you’re answering questions people may type in, in short sentences. Not big long paragraphs, but it should be one to two sentences. The shorter you are with your responses to the answer, the more likely you’re gonna rank.

The sixth tip for you is, update your content. Google’s tired of ranking old, outdated content. I’ve mentioned this many times, there’s over a billion blogs, so what does that mean? There’s content on everything. Whatever you’re writing on, the chances are, there’s 50 other articles similar to that. If you wanna do better, I know I already mentioned, write new, fresh content. But even with your new, fresh content, other people are gonna copy you, so you need to update it, it doesn’t have to be monthly, but at least once a year, go into your best-performing pieces of content and update them. It’ll help ensure that you continue to rank high on Google.

SEO For Beginners: 3 Powerful SEO Tips to Rank #1 on Google in 2019

Are you new to SEO and want to rank #1 on google this upcoming year? Here are 3 SEO strategies that will boost your rankings!

#1: Focus on content
Google has this update called Hummingbird, and with Hummingbird, websites who just have content on everything won’t do as well as sites which focus on one single niche and are super thorough.

You want to be VERY thorough with your SEO content. Poke holes in your content and fill them all up, so then that way people are like, “This is the end all site “that you should end up reading “if you’re interested in dating online.”

#2: Optimize your title tag and your meta description
Have you ever done a Google search, and noticed that every time you do it, there is this link at the top, and then there’s this one sentence with a link at the top is called the title tag.

And the description below is called the meta description.

Now think of it this way, if you search for the phrase online dating, and you don’t see the word online dating in neither the title or the description, are you going to click on the result?

Well if you are, there’s something wrong, because why would you click on a result that isn’t related to what you’re looking for?

In addition to that, have you ever searched for a term like online dating? And have you ever noticed that the word isn’t in the title or description?

That’s because Google tracks who’s clicking on what listing, and they’ve learned that when a keyword is in the listing, that same keyword that you’re searching for, they know you’re way more likely to click through.

So in your title tag and your meta description, make sure you include the keyword. But you can’t just add the keyword, “online dating,” right?

The easiest way and what I would do and I wish it was this simple; I will just put “online dating, online dating, online dating, online dating.”

If I could put it 20 times so people would know that the article is on online dating, I wish I would get more clicks.

But it’s not that simple.

Yes you have to include the keyword in your title and your description, but it has to be appealing. If it doesn’t flow in a sentence, it’s not easy to read, and it’s not appealing or evoking curiosity, no one is gonna click through.

#3: Use Google Search Console

Did you know that Google gives you a tool that teaches you how to rank number one on Google?

Yes I know that sounds ridiculous but it is true, and it’s called Google Search Console.

If you’re not already a user of it, sign up.

It doesn’t cost a dollar. You’re missing out if you’re not using it.

I can’t emphasize that enough. So now that you’re using Google Search Console…give it a few days because it takes some time to populate data. You’ll see a screen that shows Search Analytics and this shows you all the pages on your website that are getting you traffic. But the cool thing about Google Search Console is they also show you which articles are getting impressions.

Take all the keywords you’re getting impressions for and start adding them to your copy.

Now we have an article on Instagram, and it teaches you how to get over 300 targeted Instagram followers per day.

The article is around 10,000 words. When I first wrote that article, it wasn’t 10,000 words, it was roughly 2,500.

I went to Google Search Console, I saw all the people that are searching for terms related to the article, I added them within that article. I made it more thorough and you know what?

My SEO traffic more than tripled to that article. Yes it is that simple. And when I made that change, it didn’t happen right away, but I noticed the results within 50 days. That’s not a long time.

Now that you’ve learned these three tips, I challenge you in which I want you to take these tactics and implement them, and then after you implement them, in the next 45 days I want you to leave a comment with your results. Because if you’re not doing well, that means I’m not happy.
